Lists that fill themselves
You sort projects yourself. These three sort themselves: a tag on a task, a condition in a smart list, a place on the map — and the matching list appears in the overview. All of it free, no Hobba Pro needed.
Tags and context lists
You add a tag in the entry sheet under Tags — on the task or on the whole project. Put it on the project and every task inside inherits it.
Then the useful part happens: every tag gets its own list in the overview. Everything tagged @work appears in the “work” context list, no matter which project it came from. One look tells you what there is to do at your desk, instead of walking through six projects.
Which tags exist at all is kept under Settings › Tags. The catalogue travels to all your devices over iCloud.
You already know one: Quick Wins in the overview is
the context list of a built-in tag. Write #quick in a title, or
“5 min”, and the task lands there.
Smart lists
Settings › Smart Lists › New Smart List. Give it a name, a symbol and a colour — and say what belongs in it.
These are available as a basis: All open, Today, Next 7 days, No date, With deadline. On top you can narrow by Tags and Projects. For tags the rule is: at least one of them, and empty means: any.
After that it sits in the overview like a list of its own. “This week”, “No date, so I don't forget”, “Everything from work with a deadline” — whatever you happen to need.
Places
Settings › Places › Add Place. A saved place — home, office, hardware store — gets its own list in the overview, holding what you meant to do there.
The same place also drives remind me here on a single task. Hobba asks for location permission the first time; the only places stored are the ones you set yourself.
Addresses
Each of these lists has an address of its own — useful in a note, a calendar entry or a shortcut:
hobba://list/tag/work | The context list of a tag |
hobba://list/custom/<uuid> | A smart list |
hobba://list/place/<uuid> | The list of a place |
More of them — and how to get the identifiers — is in Opening Hobba without Hobba.
