The Inbox speaks up

15 September 2026 · Sebastian

Version 1.4 is out. It has no single big theme; it closes a gap that had been there since day one. “Today” shows what has a date. Whatever arrives without one was invisible — and that is most of it.

The Inbox becomes visible

At the foot of “Today” there is now a line telling you how much is sitting unsorted in the Inbox; tap it to go there. In tile view too. Nothing new, then — just one line. But it closes the place where tasks quietly disappeared.

The evening review asks too

The sheet asks once a day what is left over. The Inbox is exactly that, only unsorted, so it now sits in there as its own section — with the same three actions. What is due today stays at the top.

The focus timer on the Lock Screen

When a timer runs in “One thing at a time”, for five or 25 minutes, the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island show how long is left. The notification at the end is unchanged — this is the view of it, not the alarm.

Hobba speaks French

The whole interface is now available in French; Hobba follows your device language. A note from the workshop: the list of what’s new went into preparation without this item at first. Add a language and you notice it in a hundred places — except the one place where people read about it.

Double tap on the watch

From Series 9 and Ultra 2: thumb and index finger together. In a list it opens a new task; in an open task it completes it.

Fixed

With appearance set to “System”, the background stayed dark on a light device while everything above it was light. “One thing at a time” pushed its header into the status bar. The iCloud ring dropped in from above on every beat instead of growing in place — and after a cold start it did not beat at all. And in the rain a raindrop counted as a second finger: dragging the “+” across the list selected tasks along the way.
