Two people, one list

As of 10 September 2026

The shopping list for both of you. The renovation project for the team. A project travels to someone else by invitation, and from then on everyone works on the same list — over iCloud, with no account with us.

Inviting

In the overview, press and hold the project row (on Mac: right-click). The menu has Share …. From there Apple's own sharing sheet takes over: message, mail, copy link — whatever you are used to.

Once someone accepts, the same menu item reads Shared · 1 person … and keeps counting. On the other side it says Shared with you ….

Not to be confused with Send as Text … in the same menu. That sends a written version of the list and shares nothing — the other person gets letters, not a project.

Read only

You choose the permission in Apple's sharing sheet, not in Hobba — in the same place where you decide who may join. Set it to Read only and the project really is read-only on the other side: no completing, no moving, no editing.

And the app says so. A grey pill reading Read only sits at the top of the list — before anyone wonders why the controls do nothing. Trying anyway gives a short buzz rather than silence.

What travels

Everything that belongs to the project: tasks, subtasks, sections, dates, notes, deadlines — and attachments.

One catch with attachments, worth knowing. The file only travels if it is present on the device you share from. If you attached a photo on your iPhone and later share from a Mac where you never opened it, the entry travels but the bytes do not. The other person then sees the tile as a crossed-out cloud. The fix: open the file once on the sharing device, and it goes along with the next sync.

Leaving and ending

For the person invited, “delete” here means Leave Share. The confirmation says it plainly: The others keep it; your copy goes to your trash. Their deletion does not reach anyone else — the same way Apple's Reminders handles shared lists.

For the owner, deleting is soft and does travel: the project then sits in everyone's trash, and “Undo” brings it back for everyone. The share itself only ends when you empty the trash — and there the button no longer says just “Delete permanently” but Delete Permanently and Stop Sharing.
